Fun on the Gulf
Galveston, Texas
October, 2005

One of my favorite times of the year is visiting my Bro and his family down in Galveston, Texas. Not only do they have the coolest house on the bay, just across from Moody Gardens, they also have an excellent little speed boat.

Even though they are both extremely busy (both being Surgeons), John and Val always take the weekend off to spend time with me. This is also the time of year when I get to hang out with my nephew Julian. He is one awesome little dude. Check pictures of the whole family in the Photo's Section.

We spend the sunsets sipping brewskis and cruising the back bays. The back bays of Galveston are definitely under rated. They are a bit tricky with lots of shallows, but with the humidity your guaranteed a beautiful sunset every night.

This year we had a wonderful day at the beach that included kayaking, surfing and playing in the sand with the ultra charming and rascally Julian. He is a true water baby and loves to play near the shoreline.

I was quite surprised by the surf in the gulf while I was there, on my last day I actually saw a guy get a ride that covered about 75 yards. After paddling out in the gulf, that means this year I have surfed in the Atlantic, the Pacific, the Indian and the Gulf. Next year I'll definitely hit the Artic.

We also had some awesome bike rides. Galveston had a great boardwalk that goes for about 20 miles right along the water. Really fun, really cool.

Next year were gonna take the boat up to Texas City and surf the elusive yet inspiring Super Tanker Waves.

And if your ever down that way, give me a shout and I'm sure they would love to take for a boat ride and have a beer. Amite Sincere.
