Diving the Reef
Australia
November, 2000
Cape Tribulation was really fun but I was ready to get out on the reef. Back in Cairns I did my first two days of the course. The diving school (Deep Sea Divers Den) would pick the student up every morning and take us to the pool. Two days in the pool/classroom to learn the basics and then we were off to the reef. It was great living out on the boat for 3 days but even better because we got to do 4 dives a day. The reef is really spectacular - it may not be as colorful as Fiji - but it has just as many fish. There were lots of cool people in my diving class. We all passed with ease. I really dug the night dive we did. It's really surreal and it was the only dive during the trip that I got to see sharks. What a trip - you don't really party on the boat, so when we got back to Cairns we all met at a pub and got wasted. The next morning I was on my way to Hervey Bay
