Australia is a great country. It's not as inexpensive as New Zealand but there are lots of hostels in every town. The country is gigantic and I only got to see the top end and the East Coast. I only had a month and that is not nearly enough time. I did lots of overnight bus rides just to save days. I still had to skip some things I wanted to do. The conversion rate when I was there was around 1.91 AU per 1 US Dollar.
